some slightly bigger images

i'm hoping that the lull in news from the Talisman Dressmakers
is due to an abundance of seasonal chocolate [keeping energy levels up]
and
passion for embellishment [meaning the Dresses are blooming in their makers' hands]
meanwhile
here are some slightly bigger pix to look at

and the journey continues

a quick note for the circle of Talis[wo]man Dressmakers...those who wrote their address on the magical piece of paper on the last day of class [and one who didn't but i thought she might like to] have been sent an invitation to contribute to this blog...a couple weren't on the list

if you were in the class and you'd like to be included as a blog author, please drop me an email

threaded

the magical colours produced when thread is dyed in the presence of onion skins + a Haighs chocolate wrapper - from a chocolate heart, of course. makes all the difference

and
a delicious seam detail

the wrap...

we spent five days working away in the Beautiful Silks studio -
everyone began with the same pool of materials
a length of broadcloth
and
a pile of leaves we had all helped to gather
on a walk through Fitzroy
yet
each dress is different
reflecting the personality of the maker

i'll post more images when i'm safely home.

sunday

i think we need another week
to do this project justice
or an extended workshop
that meets weekly for a year

everyone is working very hard
stitching and pinning
dyeing threads
eating a little chocolate to ward off
day four syndrome
