Pocket Number One

Finally did a little sewing...on the plane to Melbourne again. Here is the start of the first pocket. Next step...get it on the dress.

i'm hoping that the lull in news from the Talisman Dressmakers
is due to an abundance of seasonal chocolate [keeping energy levels up]
and
passion for embellishment [meaning the Dresses are blooming in their makers' hands]

the magical colours produced when thread is dyed in the presence of onion skins + a Haighs chocolate wrapper - from a chocolate heart, of course. makes all the difference

we spent five days working away in the Beautiful Silks studio -
everyone began with the same pool of materials
a length of broadcloth
and
a pile of leaves we had all helped to gather
on a walk through Fitzroy
yet
each dress is different
reflecting the personality of the maker

i'll post more images when i'm safely home.

or an extended workshop

that meets weekly for a year

everyone is working very hard

stitching and pinning

dyeing threads

eating a little chocolate to ward off
